You’ve filmed – at an event, for a vlog, for YouTube or simply with your phone in everyday life. Now the edit is missing. You can hand it over, and that saves a lot of time. But for the result to fit and the price not to go up, preparation is what counts.
Here’s what an editing job needs – and why.
1. A script, or at least a clear structure
For short Reels an idea is often enough: “Show the process from A to B, with the result at the end.” For longer formats – vlogs, YouTube videos, image films – you need a script.
Why? Without a script, the edit has to invent the story first. That takes longer, costs more and often leads to corrections because the result doesn’t match what you had in mind.
With us a script is mandatory for vlogs, YouTube videos and image films. We don’t start a long edit without one. If you need help with the script, we offer “Concept & script” on request.
2. All footage in one folder
Put everything that should be used into one shared folder: videos, separate audio recordings, photos, graphics.
- In the best quality available. Not compressed messenger versions, but the original files.
- Sensibly named. If you pre-sort or name clips (“Interview_Anna”, “Workshop_wide”), the edit goes faster.
- Only what’s needed. The more raw footage, the longer the review. That affects the price.
3. Your corporate design
For companies: logo, fonts and colours should be available before editing starts. Otherwise titles and graphics get made that have to be changed later.
4. One or two examples
Nothing explains your taste as quickly as a video you like. Rhythm, music, typography, colour mood – one example saves long descriptions.
5. One contact person
Who answers questions and approves corrections? If several people have a say, collect the feedback internally and pass it on in one go. That prevents contradictory requests and extra rounds of corrections.
What affects the price
These factors determine what an edit costs:
- Format and length: a Reel up to 60 seconds, a vlog or YouTube video per started 10 minutes, an image film of 60–120 seconds.
- Amount of raw footage: supplying an hour of footage for one Reel causes more review time than five minutes.
- Motion graphics: simple titles and lower thirds cost less than elaborate animation and infographics.
- Second format: if you need portrait and landscape (9:16 and 16:9).
- Express: half the delivery time for a surcharge.
- Rounds of corrections: one round is included with us; each additional one costs €129.
Reels cut from one long recording – such as a podcast, an interview or an event – are a separate project and are quoted on request.
What’s always included
Every editing job with us includes subtitles, licensed music, colour correction and sound editing. We work worldwide and entirely online – so you don’t need to be in Berlin.
